Driving is essential to any GTA game, and San Andreas is no exception. Whether you’re driving to a mission, driving during a mission, or you want to explore the vast landscape in the game.
There are dozens of vehicles in GTA San Andreas; in fact, there are over 100. Many of these are based on popular and iconic cars from the likes of Ford, Dodge, Chevrolet, Nissan, and many others, so if you have a favorite car, there is a chance you can drive it in GTA.
GTA San Andreas Vehicles That Can Be Found In GTA San Andreas
In total, there are over 100 vehicles that you can drive in GTA San Andreas. These include cars, bikes, planes, helicopters, public service vehicles, and many other vehicles.
Rather than detail every vehicle in the game, this list will name all the vehicles in each category while highlighting some of my favorites that you should check out and use during your own game playthrough.
Coupes & Hatchbacks
- Blista Compact
The Sabre is one of the most common Coupes that you find around San Andreas. In addition to appearing in San Andreas, the Sabre can also be found in Vice City, Vice City Stories, and GTA IV. The muscle car can also be upgraded at any TransFender shop, with some upgrades including nitro, new wheels, and hydraulics. You can deliver the Sabre as part of the Exports and Imports mission to net $15,200 upon completion.
- Cement Truck
- Combine Harvester
The Yankee is a very common industrial vehicle that you will see across San Andreas, particularly in the industrial estate area. This vehicle is based on the Ford F700, and like many other vehicles in the game, it has a top speed of 99.42 mph (160.00 km/h).
The Remington is one of my favorite vehicles in GTA: San Andreas. It’s slow but is distinctive in its style. If you’re looking for a vibe during your ride through San Andreas, this one is perfect for you! The style that this Remington is modeled on is a 1977 and 1978 Lincoln Continental Town Coupe. The maximum speed for the Remington is 99.42 miles per hour (160.00 kilometers/h). You can find a Remington in Flint County and Whetstone, Southeastern Los Santos, especially Willowfield, Idlewood, Ganton, El Corona, Dillimore, Palomino Creek, Lowrider Challenge, and Exports and Imports.
The Tornado is perhaps best known as the vehicle of choice for the Los Santos Vagos in San Andreas. Based on the real-life 1958 Chevrolet Impala, the Tornado can typically be found around the areas that the Los Santos Vagos gang frequent, including Las Colinas, Los Flores, East Los Santos, and East Beach in Los Santos. The Tornado can also be heavily modified at the Loco Low Co. Garage with some upgrades, including exhausts, bumpers and skirts, new wheels, nitro, and hydraulics.
The Blade is one of the most common cars if you are a gangster; the Blade is among the “wanted” vehicles required for the Exports and Imports mission of GTA San Andreas, as part of List 3. If you can deliver this vehicle, you will receive $9,000. You can find one in houses east of El Corona Safehouse, San Fierro Rifa gang turfs (Doherty, Garcia, Battery Point, in San Fierro), Bone County, Whetstone, and Exports and Imports.
Sedans & Station Wagons
One of the most common cars in GTA San Andreas is the Admiral. The Admiral is one of the sedan cars featured in GTA San Andreas. The look featured on Admiral’s design in GTA San Andreas is based on a Mercedes-Benz W123 or BMW E30. You can find one in Las Venturas, The Strips, and the parking lot of Papercuts (Los Santos Conference Center) when wanted for Exports and Imports, Exports and Imports.
This car immediately captured my heart. The style for the Emperor of GTA San Andreas is based on an actual event in the 1990-1993 period of Infiniti’s Q45. The highest acceleration of the Emperor is 102.53 miles per hour (165.00 kilometers/h). You can find one in San Fierro, Los Santos, and Glen Park.
If you’re trying to be luxurious, then the Stretch limousine is the one for you! The Stretch style in GTA San Andreas is a mix of the Lincoln Town Car Gen II, Cadillac Fleetwood, and Cadillac DeVille. The Stretch Limousine is one of the most common vehicles in the series, having appeared in every entry of the series since GTA 3. The maximum speed of the Stretch is 111.85 miles per hour (180.00 kilometers/h). The Stretch can be found across Los Santos, Las Venturas, and San Fierro.
- Super GT
The Banshee is one of the most iconic cars in the entire GTA franchise, having appeared in GTA 3, Vice City, San Andreas, GTA IV, and GTA V. The San Andreas version of the car is based on multiple different sports cars of the 90s. These are the Chevrolet Camaro, Dodge Stealth, Dodge Viper RT/10, and Pontiac Firebird. Being a sports car, it goes faster than many of the regular cars in the game, with a top speed of 124.27 mph (200.00 km/h). If you deliver the Banshee in the Exports and Imports mission you will earn yourself a nice $45,000 for your troubles.
SUVs & Pickup Trucks
Huntley is among the most loved family car SUVs in GTA San Andreas. The design of Huntley is inspired by the real-world 70-96 Land Rover Range Rover classic. The Huntley isn’t a car you will find yourself racing in, with a top speed of just 99.42 miles per hour (160.00 kilometers/h). You can find a Huntley across various locations in Los Santos, Las Venturas, and San Fierro.
To me, this is the most luxurious car that I have seen in GTA San Andreas. The style is based on the Chevrolet S10 Blazer and Ford Explorer. The maximum velocity for the Landstalker is 99.42 mph (160.00 km/h). You can find a Landstalker in the Foster Valley in San Fierro, The Strip at Las Venturas, Santa Maria Beach, and the Flight School.
The Mesa is based on the 1986-95 Jeep Wrangler YJ and is rather compact compared to other SUVs in the game. The maximum speed, like many vehicles, is 99.42 miles per hour (160.00 km/h). The Mesa can mainly be found near various beaches in the game, as well as Blackfield Stadium, Greenglass College, and Madd Dogg’s Mansion Missionary Hill.
The army uses the Patriot vehicle in GTA San Andreas. Because of this, if you want a Patriot for yourself, you must reach a five-star wanted level for the army to attack you while driving them. The Patriot is based on an AM General HMMWV with a top speed of 105.63 miles per hour (170.00 kilometers/hour). You can find one at Easter Basin Naval Station, Airstrip of Area 69 in Bone County, and Exports and Imports.
Do you know who owns this van? It’s the Truth! Old hippie living in the wilderness located in Flint County. He is a friend of Carl when he is relegated to the Badlands. The Walton is based on the 1955 Chevrolet Task Force with a maximum speed of 93.21 percent (150.00 kilometers/h). To find a Walton, you will need to head into the countryside as it can be found in locations such as the Angel Pine Sawmill, Flint County Safehouse, and the countryside areas of Red County.
A 1998-1999 GMC Sierra inspires the style of the Yosemite within GTA San Andreas. The highest speed for Yosemite is 105.63 miles per hour (170.00 kilometers/h). You will find one in Downtown San Fierro, Juniper Hollow, and Old Venturas Strip.
The Sultan is one of the fastest 4-seater cars found in San Andreas, so if you’re trying to earn your 2-3 police stars, this car is the one for you! The style of the Sultan is based on multiple cars from the 1990s. GC Subaru Impreza WRX; Mitsubishi Lancer Evo I 1992-1994; Peugeot 405; Peugeot 406. The maximum speed for the Sultan was 124.27 miles per hour (200.00 kilometers/h). After completing Test Drive, you can find the Sultan in locations such as Wang Cars showroom in San Fierro, the San Fierro Triads turf in Chinatown, and Santa Maria Beach.
- Berkley’s RC Van
- Mr. Whoopee
Berkley’s RC Van
I am a fan of this van, especially for the side mission within GTA San Andreas “Beefy Baron,” where you control the RC plane and take down the majority of Berkley vans in three minutes. The Ford Econoline and a 1979 Dodge Tradesman inspired Berkley’s RC Van, which has a maximum speed of 99.42 mph (160.00 km/h). Berkley’s RC Van can be found at seaports and industrial areas, including the Sherman Dam, Beefy Baron, and Octane Springs.
Even though the performance and speed of the Hotdog is not the best, it’s nonetheless original and charming! The style of this Hotdog is based on a 1964-1970 Dodge A100. The maximum speed of the Hotdog is 86.99 miles per hour (140.00 kilometers/hour). The Hotdog can be found at numerous locations throughout San Andreas, including parking lots, Burger Shot, and Sherman Dam.
The Pony is prominently used in the Green Sabre mission. The Pony is based on a Ford Econoline, and a 1979 Dodge Tradesman. The highest speed for Pony Pony is 99.42 miles per hour (160.00 kilometers/h). You can find one in industrial areas (Ocean Docks, Easter Basin, LVA Freight Depot, Spinybed), Fallen Tree, Octane Springs, Sherman Dam, and Hunter Quarry.
- Mountain Bike
There is nothing more exhilarating than riding through the streets of San Andreas, or any GTA game, on a fast motorbike, and the FCR-900 is a perfect bike to do it. This is a great vehicle for high-speed thrills with an impressive top speed of 117.81 mph (189.60 km/h). The FCR-900 can also earn you $10,000 for delivering it in the Exports and Imports mission.
- News Chopper
- Police Maverick
- Sea Sparrow
If flying is your thing, what better way to do it than in a fighter jet? The Hydra is based on the British Aerospace Harrier II, F-16 Fighting Falcon, and has a top speed of 124.27 mph (200.00 km/h), making it one of the fastest vehicles in the game.
Building and running a criminal empire can be very tiring, so what better to relax than on your private yacht? The Marquis is an excellent boat in GTA San Andreas if you want to explore the ocean that surrounds the city, with an impressive speed of 118.06 mph (190.00 km/h).
The Maquis is unlocked after completing the Boat School mission by earning a Bronze medal in every challenge.
- FBI Truck
- FBI Rancher
- Fire Truck
Is there anything more badass than a tank? I didn’t think so. If you’ve always wanted to drive a tank in San Andreas, then this is your perfect chance to do so, and you don’t even have to steal it. You are rewarded with the Rhino tank for earning 100% completion, and then it will spawn outside of CJ’s house; no one will mess with the Grove Street Families with that parked up.
- Tow Truck
- Utility Van
Are you in need of an Uber taxi? Try the taxi route, but be sure you are not hitting a pedestrian! Haha. The Taxi is based on the real-life 1993–94 Chevrolet Caprice; 1982–1984 or 1987–1988 Pontiac 6000; 1992–1994 Ford Crown Victoria; and Holden VK Commodore. The maximum speed of the Taxi can be 111.85 miles per hour (180.00 kilometers/h). You can find this one anywhere.
- Brown Streak
The Brown Streak train is easily the most famous train in the series, with it being the vehicle used in the infamous “Wrong Side of the Tracks” mission that sees CJ and Big Smoke chasing the train. It isn’t a vehicle you will often find yourself using, but it is iconic to the series.
- Bloodring Banger
- Hotring Racer
- RC Cam
The Hotring Racer can first be used in the 8-Track side mission before it is later given to you as a reward. There are two other versions of the vehicle in the in-game files, but they need to be hacked into the game, each with a different performance.
- RC Bandit
- RC Baron
- RC Goblin
- RC Raider
- RC Tiger
The RC Raider is a remote-controlled helicopter as part of the Wear Flowers in Your Hair. It doesn’t have any purpose outside of this mission but controlling these RC vehicles is always fun.
- Articulated Trailer
- Baggage Box
- Farm Trailer
- Passenger Car
- Petrol Truck
- Tractor Trailer
- Tug Stairs
Question: Which is the best vehicle in GTA: San Andreas?
Answer: The Hunter attack chopper is the best vehicle in GTA San Andreas. Its high speed, protective armor, and rocket launcher make it an excellent vehicle for various missions and scenarios.
Question: Which GTA games are set in San Andreas?
Answer: San Andreas has been home to four different GTA games so far. These games are GTA 1 and 2, GTA San Andreas, and the latest entry to be released, GTA V.
Question: Will San Andreas be the location of future GTA games?
Answer: With Vice City likely being the location of GTA VI, that would mean that the three classic locations, Liberty City, San Andreas, and Vice City, will have been in GTA IV, V, and VI. Rockstar Games may begin cycling through them again with future titles, it has been 25 years, and the series has always remained in these three locations for the most part. But, it will be a long time before we see GTA VII if it is ever developed, with my estimations being the mid-late 2030s.
Although there had previously been many vehicles in Grand Theft Auto games, San Andreas dwarfed them in comparison with many vehicles and vehicle types. Future games would continue this trend, with hundreds of vehicles being used as you build your criminal empire.
With Grand Theft Auto VI not being bound by the size of a disc due to games primarily being downloaded from the internet, it will be interesting to see how many are included in that game when it is released. Still, it will likely set a new record.
