Grand Theft Auto Online is an ever-evolving and lively virtual world with one of the best maps in the series. The game was launched over a decade ago and has remained popular due to the continuous updates provided by Rockstar.
On July 20th, 2021, the 1.57 Los Santos Tuners update was released, which introduced new characters, prizes, challenges, and most notably, 17 new vehicles that quickly became popular among the GTA car community.
Bottom Line Upfront
Each Tuner car has unique perks and characteristics, such as customization options and top-tier drifting capabilities. However, Karin Previon is often overshadowed by its competition. In this article, we will shine a spotlight on the underdog and reveal everything you need to know about it.
Karin Previon Overview
- Manufacturer: Karin.
- Class: Coupes, Tuners.
- Price: $ 1,490,000/ $ 1,117,500 trade price.
- Acquisition: Southern San Andreas Super Autos.
- Resale Value: $ 894,000/ $ 1,229,145 fully upgraded.
The Karin Previon is a 2-door coupé car featured in Grand Theft Auto Online, added to the latter as a part of the 1.57 Los Santos Tuners back on September 9th, 2021.
It belongs to the Tuners category and is not what you call “a fan’s favorite”. The Previon appeared in the GTA series for the first time in GTA San Andreas. Now, it is exclusive to GTA Online.
In other words, you cannot get this car if you love to play single-player/story mode. That is not happy news for someone who cannot log into multiplayer because of the annoying subscription on consoles.
If you are part of Grand Theft Auto Online, you can get a Karin Previon for 1,490,000 dollars from the Southern San Andreas Super Autos. That price tag leans a bit to the hefty side if you consider the vehicle’s perks and characteristics.
You can get a discounted trade price of 1,117,500 dollars. The Previon loses 40% of its resale value, which means you will get $ 894,000 if you sell it in its stock form and $ 1,229,145 fully upgraded (mods lose 50% of their value).
Performance
- Top Speed: 115.5 mph.
- Weight: 2900 lbs/ 1300 kg.
- Transmission: 5 gears.
- Drivetrain: Rear-wheel Drive.
- Acceleration: 0-60 in 6 secs.
Grand Theft Auto Online
In GTA Online, the Previon is a powerful car with a supercharged V8 engine and rear-wheel drive. It weighs under 2900 lbs/ 1300 kg and is one of the best drift cars in the Tuners category, although its acceleration is slow compared to other competitors.
The Previon performs exceptionally well, reaching a top speed of 115.5 mph and going from 0-60 in about 5.5 seconds. Its exhaust note is shared with the XA-21, Vectre, and Jugular.
It drives and handles like a Coupé, feeling faster than the Ubermacht Zion, and has a superb grip in high-speed corners. While it tends to understeer, the body roll compensates for it, making it among the top dogs in drifting with the correct setup.
GTA San Andreas
It is not what you might call the “go-to” vehicle or players’ first choice. It is the car you take when you are in trouble and cannot find a better car. It weighs about 3000 lbs/ 1400 kg and has 4 gears. That helps a lot with the acceleration. It is decent for a car this size with front-wheel drive and a rather puny engine.
The latter packs enough punch to get the car going, but that’s about it. It can barely reach over 90 mph. The handling is quick and direct because the engine lacks performance.
Design
GTA Online
The Previon was revived and added to the Karin lineup, drawing inspiration from various cars such as the 1991-2000 Toyota Soarer (Lexus SC400). Other sources of inspiration were also considered in its design, including:
- The 1991-2001 Honda Prelude Si coupé (Fourth BB4 and Fifth-Gen BB5 model).
- 1988-1994 Nissan Silvia S13 Coupe
- 1994-1999 Toyota GT-4 Celica ST205
The new Previon ditches its old GTA San Andreas look for a sleeker design. The front boasts a large grille and side vents for better airflow, with a V-shaped bulge stretching from the headlights to the A-pillars.
The car’s front end is inspired by the Honda Prelude, with larger headlights similar to the BB model Prelude. The side skirts are streamlined, but the high ride height diminishes the sporty look.
The Previon has turbine-like rims and high-profile tires. The trunk is small and boxy, with a Karin logo, and the bumper holds a large license plate. Stainless steel dual exhaust tips peek from under the bumper, and the taillights mimic those of the 1988-1994 Nissan Silvia S13 Coupe.
The Previon’s interior boasts a Coquette-inspired design, featuring a sleek center console with dials similar to those found in Habanero, RT300, Euros, and Calico GTF, but with a unique color scheme.
The primary body color is complemented by a secondary shade on the interior stitching, brake calipers, door handles, and steering wheel. Additionally, options to customize the dashboard and roof lining are available (details in the modification section below).
GTA San Andreas
The Previon is a blend of two vehicles from the 1980s: the second-generation Honda Prelude (1982-1986) and the second-gen Toyota Soarer (1986). It is slower and less attractive than its modern counterpart.
The car’s design is a mix between the Toyota and Honda, sharing similarities with the Prelude in the side profile and rear end.
The front bumper has a long and thin intake vent and a large license plate above it, but no indicators. The grille is small, slim, and flanked by two small headlights and turn signals on each side.
Modifications: GTA Online
When it comes to customization, no one does it better than GTA Online. Since the Previon is part of the Tuners DLC, it features a long list of options to personalize your own. You can upgrade the Previon at the LS Car Meet or Los Santos Customs.

My Personal Build
I opted for a simple street build, prioritizing armor and performance upgrades like transmission, brakes, EMS, and Turbo Tuning. Additionally, I lowered the suspension to Sport as I am not a fan of the camber that comes with Competition suspension.
For the exterior, the Dual and Street Exhausts are the best options. The latter pairs perfectly with the Small Spoiler and Stock Rear Bumper. For the front, the Street Bumper with a Primary Splitter and Custom Intercooler is a simple yet elegant combination that adds an aggressive vibe to the Previon.
Ultimately, it is highly recommended to add Custom Skirts and Primary Fenders to give the car a widebody look.
I did not add liveries, roll cages, hood catches, or headlight covers. However, I applied the vented hood. In terms of wheels and paint, it is up to you and the build you desire. I chose matte black with red accents and Pure Business wheels in the Track category.
Other wheels I considered are Split Ten, Cheetah Carbon R from the High End, and Endo V4 Dished in the street segment.
For the engine bay, I opted for a clean and simple look. I chose the secondary ridge V8 engine block without rail covers and the titanium strut brace. Additionally, I installed the secondary V8 air intake to give it a modern muscle car look.
I prefer a stripped interior with a carbon dash, sports seats, and a basic rally steering wheel. I kept the stock dials and doors.
