Every once in a while, Grand Theft Auto Online is bombarded with an insane amount of updates and mind-blowing events. My favorite updates are the ones that bring new, better, and faster cars. Hence why the Tuners Update is one of the best Rockstar releases to ever bless the GTA Online playground.
One of the best cars that came through these mind-boggling updates is the Sultan Classic. With its classic boxy shape and legendary looks, the sultan classic took GTA Online by storm. In this Sultan Classic guide, you will find everything you need to get up to speed on the Classic legend.
Karin Automobile
In the HD Universe of the GTA Series, Karin represents a Japanese car maker. It appears in several installments like GTA IV, V, GTA Online, The Lost and The Damned, and The Ballad of Gay Tony. Karin is primarily based on one of the largest automotive companies in the world, Toyota.
However, it draws inspiration from other Japanese car manufacturers like Subaru, Mitsubishi, Infiniti, and Lexus. For example, the Calico GTF is based on the Toyota Celica, the Boor is based on the Subaru BRAT, and the Karuma is basically a Mitsubishi Evo X.
The logo is a circle with the letter “K” in the middle and a red background. The company owns a performance division called “Karin Racing Auto Performance”. The latter is behind the legendary blue and gold livery, which you can apply to the Sultan. The livery is inspired by the Subaru World Rally Team Skin applied to the Subaru Impreza WRX.
There is a theory about the Karin Performance Division. The initials of the name form the word “KRAP”. It is highly possible to be a reference to the Toyota Racing Development division “TRD”, a play on the word “turd”.

The Karin Sultan Classic is a sporty four-door sedan released on the 16th of January,2020. The vehicle was featured in GTA V as a getaway car in the Casino Heist. However, it became available for purchase during Sultan Classic Week 16-22 January 2020.
Design
The Sultan Classic is the forerunner to the original Sultan. The Classic maintains the vintage textbook design. It has a traditional three-box sedan configuration making it a copy-paste rendition of its real-life counterpart. The idea behind the Sultan Classic looks is driven by the Subaru Impreza GC8 and the first-gen Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, with some styling cues from the Evo IV.
Upfront
The front bumper features small added lips to make it look lower and more aggressive. The highlight of the front bumper is a massive rectangular intake with a black honeycomb mesh. The bumper also features two small circular fog lamps, one on each side. My biggest turn-off with the front is the placement of the number plate. It is installed right in front of the intake mesh.
The center of the front fascia is occupied by a sleek upside-down trapezium-shaped grille with a blacked-out honeycomb mesh and the Karin Logo in the middle. The headlights are rectangular and feature a tiny tapered edge on top to make them seem thinner, sharper, and more hawkish. They are similar to the ones on the Lancer Evo IV. The turning signals sit in a similar chrome housing next to the main beams.
The hood is smooth and simple. It has two lines starting at either edge of the grille, shaping a bulge in the center. Plus, there are two small black windshield washer nozzles.
Side Profile
From the side, you can clearly see the same traditional three-box style as the Subaru Impreza GC8. The cabin zone includes the infamous frameless doors with low blacked-out window surrounds. The door handles are flushed and painted the same color as the main body alongside the side view mirrors. The beltline has integrated thin ridge lines that pass through the doors and wrap around the car. The doors cave in at the bottom above the side skirts for a sportier facade. The wheels are identical to the Apex rims for the tuners category, but they come in stock gray color.
The roof panel is separated from the rest of the body by two thick black lines. The latter links the corners of the front and back windshield. I don’t know what’s the point of that, but it looks cool!
The Buttocks
From the rear, the Sultan Classic is simple and functional for this type of car. There are no crazy curves or a thousand wings slapped on. The centerpiece is a low-mounted body-colored pedestal spoiler that extends across the width of the trunk. On both sides of the trunk lid, you will notice silver lettering. On the left, it says “KARIN” and on the right, it says “ Twin Turbo 3.5”.
The tail lights are similar to those on the Impreza GC8. However, Sultan’s tail lights are rectangular with sharper corners and edges, unlike its real-life counterpart. The main brake lights sit on top, and small reverse lights are underneath, while the turning signals are placed alone on the side.
The bumper features the same thin ridge that goes around the car and a massive number plate in the middle. It is not as low as the front bumper, but the big titanium exhaust makes up for the lost space.
Interior
The interior design is identical to the standard Karin Sultan. But, the Sultan Classic has the “Karin” Logo in the middle of the steering wheel. The interior stitching matches the same color as the main body. The secondary color is reserved for the wing mirrors.
The stock wheels are a twin rendition to the “Apex” Wheels in the tuners category at Los Santos Customs. In addition, it comes with low profile-tires.
Performance
In terms of performance, the Sultan Classic does not disappoint. It gets up and goes thanks to its sublime acceleration and phenomenal all-wheel drive. Sadly, that makes it a terrible car for drifting. Nonetheless, it is light in weight and can reach a top speed of 116 mph. It is not as fast as some of the competitors in the same class. Still, it can put some sports cars to shame with its ridiculous handling.
The car is very stable and sturdy during high and low-speed corners. But, it develops a high tendency to spin out if you slam it to the floor with the competition suspension. Overall, the Sultan Classic is a well-rounded and well-balanced car. In addition, it is an amazing off-road performer. Hence, why many players try to replicate the legendary Colin McRae 555 Impreza rally build.
The car is powered by a 3.5L twin-cam six-banger with two turbochargers. The engine is mated to a five-speed gearbox that sends the power equally to all four wheels. The exhaust note is similar to the Sultan RS, but the tone is a little bit higher. The turbo sound is amplified through the Turbo Tuning upgrade. That’s something that will make you giggle like a baby every time you hear it.

Design
The Sultan Classic and the Sultan RS Classic are identical in almost every aspect. The only noticeable difference is the Sultan RS Classic has two doors and a wide-body kit. Furthermore, while the Sultan Classic is based on the Impreza GC8, the Sultan RS Classic is inspired by the Impreza 22B STI. Still, they share a lot of the same design characteristics.
The interior of the Sultan RS Classic can be found in the Annis Remus, the Elegy Retro Custom, and the Sultan RS. The wheels on the RS Classic are the same ones you find on the Sultan Classic.
Performance
The Sultan RS Classic is powered by the same twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine from the Sultan Classic. It has the same gearbox and all-wheel drive. However, the Sultan RS Classic sends 60% of the power to the rear wheels and 40% to the front. Meanwhile, the Sultan Classic has equal (50/50) torque distribution between the rear, and front wheels.
The acceleration is mindblowing, and the handling is impeccable. As a result, the RS Classic can reach a top speed of 117.5 mph. Overall, the Sultan RS Classic is a great car on and off the road and a magnificent racer.
