Best Jet in GTA 5

Best Jet in GTA 5 – Fly High or Die Trying

Latest posts by Ali Mustafa (see all)

Jets are an essential part of the GTA Online experience, allowing players to take to the skies and wreak havoc on their enemies from above. With incredible speed, maneuverability, and firepower, jets are a force to be reckoned with in the game.

Trust me; there’s nothing quite like taking to the skies and unleashing terror on your enemies. But with so many jets to choose from, how do you know which one to pick? It’s a tough decision, but fear not!

As your fellow GTA maniac, I’ll help you single out the best jets in GTA online. It wasn’t an easy list to jot down – it took countless hours of research, years of training and dozens of energy drinks to put this list together. So buckle up, folks, and get ready to discover the best jet in GTA 5 and online.

Selection Criteria

The jets mentioned on the list below were selected on the basis of multiple factors – their speed, price, weaponry, endurance, and of course, coolness!

The list is rated on the basis of the worst to the best jet in GTA Online, so make sure you follow till the end.

You can choose from a variety of jets in GTA Online; I’ve selected 10, which I consider to be the best. Hence, this list is completely based on my opinion, and I mean no offense to any Buckingham Luxor lover out there because it didn’t make the list (Spoiler alert).

Read on to find out some of the best jets in GTA Online that can help you escape sticky situations with ease!

Top 10 Jets in GTA Online – Rated Worst to Best

10. Buckingham Howard NX-25 – Fixed-wing Jet

buckingham howard nx-25 - fixed-wing jet

  • Price: $1.29 million
  • Top Speed: 184.4 kilometers per hour
  • Concept: Hughes H-1 Racer

Starting the list off with the Buckingham Howard NX-25, a jet regarded by many as the best plane of the fixed-wing class, the Howard NX-25 is an armored single-seater airplane. Is it a jet, per se? I don’t think so – which is why it’s at the bottom of the list.

While technically, the Buckingham Howard NX-25 is a jet, by definition. But when we say jet, we mean rockets, machine guns, speed, and military!

The only reason it made this list is because of its incredible speed and its lightweight build, which aids in quick takeoff. There are no weapons on the Buckingham Howard NX-25, but its fast speed and quick acceleration will help you escape tight spots and help you reach your destination pretty quickly.

Focusing on endurance, the plane is pretty sturdy; it can survive three homing missile attacks before bursting into flames. While it has no weapons, it does have countermeasures to stop incoming attacks, and its agility is one of the best out of all jets in the game.

So, you’ll have no problem evading enemy attacks, but be careful of incoming buildings, as a minor collision will have destructive consequences. If you’re looking for a reliable jet for races, escaping the police, or stunts, then the Buckingham Howard NX-25 is the ‘jet’ for you.

9. LF-22 Starling – Mini Jet

lf-22 starling - mini jet

  • Price: $3.65 million
  • Top Speed: 284.4 kilometers per hour
  • Concept: Messerschmitt Me 163 Komet, Messerschmitt Me 262

Coming up next is the LF-22 Starling – a jet exclusive to GTA Online, which is seen in multiple missions post-Smuggler’s Run DLC.

It might seem like a small aircraft but don’t be fooled by its size. The LF-22 Starling is a destructive jet with machine guns and Lock-on missiles (available after customization). The Rocket Boost feature is a feature like no other – it’s like nitrous to your jet, which will give it a boost of acceleration to escape your enemies.

Notice how I didn’t mention it’s a great fit for races? Well, that’s because you can’t choose the LF-22 Starling for races (since the entire lobby would be racing with the Starling).

The boost and destructive weapons are a huge plus, but with great speed comes bad handling. The LF-22 Starling may be fast, but it’s not the aircraft for tight turns and precision strikes.

8. V-65 Molotok – Old School Fighter Jet

v-65 molotok - old school fighter jet

  • Price: $4.78 million
  • Top Speed: 328.6 kilometers per hour
  • Concept: North American F-86 Sabre, Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-15/17

Let me take you on a trip to the 1940s with the V-65 Molotok, which might seem like something your grandpa must’ve seen in newspapers in his youth.

The V-65 Molotok is based on the North American F-86 Sabre. The V-65 Molotok is a beauty of a jet, and only the design is vintage. What I mean by that is that this plane neither costs nor has the specs of a 1940s airplane.

It costs a whopping $4.78 million in GTA Online, and it is equipped with two machine guns and different kinds of bombs.

It has strong armor, but unfortunately, it can’t best modern jets in a 1v1 dogfight. The V-65 Molotok’s great handling and destructive weapons make it a great aircraft for covert operations – most importantly, operations that don’t involve fighting other jets.

7. Mammoth Avenger – Heavyweight VTOL

mammoth avenger - heavyweight vtol

  • Price: $3.45 million
  • Top Speed: 250 kilometers per hour
  • Concept: V-22 Osprey

The next plane on our list of best GTA Online jets is the massive Mammoth Avenger. This beast of an aircraft is a heavyweight category jet whose appearance is enough to scare your enemies. The Mammoth Avenger was added to GTA Online in the Doomsday Heist.

It weighs a massive 20 tons, and it’s completely bulletproof. The countermeasures and insane armor make it a flying fortress that only a fool would go against.

On the offensive side, you can customize and add a gunner turret to the Mammoth Avenger. Also, did I mention it’s a VTOL jet? VTOL stands for Vertical Take Off and Landing, meaning that the Mammoth Avenger doesn’t need a long runway to take off or land. You can directly take off and land the Mammoth Avenger like a helicopter.

It also includes an autopilot mode, allowing the pilot to leave the cockpit and keep the jet in the air while you perform your shenanigans on the ground.

Like the LF-22 Starling, the Mammoth Avenger also has the Rocket Boost feature allowing a nitrous-like boost for quick acceleration.

6. Mammoth Mogul – Vintage Bomber Jet

mammoth mogul - vintage bomber jet

  • Price: $3.125 million
  • Top Speed: 276.5 kilometers
  • Concept: Beechcraft Model 18, FMA AeMB.2

Next, we have the Mammoth Mogul, which offers vintage chic and guns aplenty. The Mammoth Mogul is focused more on the offensive side, with two machine guns and several types of bombs to rain fire from above.

You can seat two other players in the Mogul to operate the machine guns and the bombs. It also has the usual countermeasures like Chaff, Flares, and Smoke for players to evade incoming missiles.

While the Mogul has some big guns, it doesn’t mean the defensive side has taken a hit. The Mogul is a vintage bomber, and like any other old-school bomber, the armor is pretty sturdy.

What has taken a hit with the Mammoth Mogul is the handling and agility. The eight-thrusters ensure the heavy jet isn’t in the slow category. It has average speed, and performing evasive maneuvers is a task of its own when flying the Mammoth Mogul.

5.  Volatol – Modern Bomber

volatol - modern bomber

  • Price: $3.72 million
  • Top Speed: 250 kilometers per hour
  • Concept: Avro Vulcan, Myasishchev M-4, de Havilland Comet

When talking about bomber jets, size does matter. The Volatol is a massive modern-designed bomber weighing around 45 tons! This beast of a jet is perfect for when you want to wipe out an entire population.

The Volatol looks like a bomber you might use to drop a nuke or something, but this isn’t Fallout, so we aren’t getting any nukes to drop anytime soon.

Chin up champ, no need to be sad because you can’t arm the Volatol with nukes, you still have the capacity to hold 100 bombs, and that’s great for carpet bombing. The Volatol is extremely slow, but it is pretty strongly reinforced. Moreover, countermeasures and machine gun turrets are helpful in avoiding enemy attacks.

The Volatol is great for stealth missions. Yes, stealth missions! Because if you wipe out all of your enemies in a single carpet bomb run, who’s gonna spot you?

Unlike a traditional jet, the Volatol isn’t fast or great at handling. It can also seat four players (which is odd because its cargo space seems like it can fit over 100 people), which is unlike conventional jets, which are known to be fast and can seat one or two people at max.

It might be slow and difficult to handle, but when your enemies spot this sky whale heading their way, you can bet they’re saying their prayers.

4. B-11 Strikeforce – Air Support

b-11 strikeforce - air support

  • Price: $3.8 million
  • Top Speed: 328.6 kilometers per hour
  • Concept: Northrop YA-9, Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II, AN/AAS-35 (V) Pave Penny

Alpha One, Alpha One, this is Bravo Two. Requesting immediate air support!

Say no more, Bravo Two, because the ultimate air support thunderbird is here to send your enemies to oblivion!

No other jet can compare to the B-11 Strikeforce when it comes to the best air support jet in GTA Online because it can fly at low altitudes, stay under the radar and wreak havoc on ground forces with its barrage missiles, homing missiles, machine guns, and explosive bombs.

The B-11 Strikeforce can also defend itself with countermeasures, such as flares, smoke, and chaff. Only one person can sit in the B-11 Strikeforce, controlling the flight and weaponry, so a pilot with enough experience flying in GTA Online should be flying this jet.

It is one of the best, if not the best jet for providing air support with its weapons of mass destruction, low altitude quick maneuvering, and incredible speed! All you have to do is make sure that the player in the cockpit is able to fly and target accurately in pressure situations.

3. Western Company Besra – Training Jet

western company besra - training jet

  • Price: $1.15 million
  • Top Speed: 328.6 kilometers per hour
  • Concept: Hongdu JL-8, BAE Systems Hawk, Northrop T-38 Talon, Douglas T-45 Goshawk

The Besra – a monster of a jet designed by Western Company, is a highly underrated jet in the game. Looking at the price tag, you might be thinking, “Oh, it’s so cheap, it must suck!” Well, not every good thing needs to be expensive!

The Besra is one of the fastest jets in the game, able to hit a whopping 328.6km/h. With the fastest acceleration, it can take off extremely quickly, and the handling of his jet is like no other. The precise responses to turns make it ideal for quick navigation, races, and even stunt missions.

The Besra outperforms its competitors in almost every aspect. Great speed, swift maneuverability, and accurate handling are what players look for in a fighter jet. The only catch is that it has no weapons.

The only (and biggest) downside to the Besra is that it’s not a combat/fighter jet; it’s a training jet with incredible speed and handling second to no other jet in the game. It’s an ideal choice for players looking to perform well in air races, stunt missions, and moving across the map in style.

2. Mammoth Hydra – Attack VTOL

mammoth hydra - attack vtol

  • Price: $3.99 million
  • Top Speed: 327 kilometers per hour
  • Concept: British Aerospace Harrier II, F-35 Lightning II

The Hydra is a jet that I hold very close to my heart. It first featured in GTA San Andreas and was the first plane to enter the franchise. The nostalgia of trying to steal a Hydra from Area 69 is a thrilling memory for many hardcore Grand Theft Auto fans.

Bearing the same name and design as GTA: San Andreas, the Hydra is heavily upgraded in GTA Online. It is one of the first jets to be introduced in GTA Online, yet it has been buffed over the years with increased speed, added weapons customizability, and increased price.

The Hydra is one of the fastest jets in the game, and it’s a VTOL, which I’ve already explained above. The maneuvering is very sensitive, and after a bit of practice, you’ll be barrel-rolling near skyscrapers.

The Hydra’s destructive heat-seeking missiles give it an edge over the best fighter jets in the game. While a price of almost $4 million might seem high at first glance, but checking out other attack jets will make you realize that the Hydra is pretty cheap in its class.

The cool design, ravaging missiles, low price, remarkable speed, and controls make it a top pick for players who want an upper hand in dogfights.

1. JoBuilt P-996 Lazer – Best Attack Jet

jobuilt p-996 lazer - best attack jet

  • Price: $6.5 million
  • Top Speed: 328.6 kilometers per hour
  • Concept: F-16C Fighting Falcon, Eurofighter Typhoon, Lockheed Martin F-35, F-20 Tigershark

If the Besra and Hydra had a baby, it would look just like the JoBuilt P-996 Lazer, which is considered the best jet in GTA Online because of its outclass speed and lethal weapons. If you ever see a Lazer headed your way… well, may the angels welcome you with celestial melodies to the gardens of Eden, where eternal bliss awaits.

With the highest top speed of any jet in the game, the Lazer is an aerial assassin. An arsenal of dual explosive cannons that can annihilate enemies from 600 feet away, including armored vehicles and missiles ( Lock-on and no Lock-on) that can be fired in quick succession to wipe out an entire squad in mere seconds.

The Lazer doesn’t have any significant countermeasures, which is a bold move by Rockstar, displaying that their most powerful jet doesn’t require countermeasures, as it’s fast enough and sturdy enough to evade the most dangerous missiles in the game.

It’s one of the most expensive jets in the game, and the price is justified for the monster performance this jet provides.

It wasn’t easy to single out the best jets in GTA Online when there are so many amazing choices. While all jets cannot be included in the category, I think GTA Online gamers who are fans of hitting the skies should definitely check out some of the notable mentions below.

  • Buckingham Alpha-Z1
  • Buckingham Luxor and Luxor Deluxe
  • Buckingham Pyro
  • Mammoth Dodo
  • P-45 Nokota
  • RM-10 Bombushka
  • Titan
  • Western Company Cuban 800
  • Western Company Duster
  • Western Company Rogue

These jets are pretty awesome too, but they just missed the top list by a hair. Make sure to give these a whirl as well to see which jet is the perfect match for you!
