What we Know About Vulcar

All vehicles in the Grand Theft Auto series are based on real-life counterparts with a few mismatched styling cues. And Vulcar is no different.

It is a Swedish automaker that exists in GTA 5. Vulcar vehicle design is galvanized by major car companies like Volkswagen and Nissan. But the overall Vulcar theme and vibe are heavily influenced by the Swedish car manufacturer, Volvo.

If you pay close attention to the pedestrians in GTA V, you will hear a random one talking on the phone about the safety of Vulcar. That is a reference to how safe Volvo is in real life. It is even mentioned on the Southern San Andreas Super Autos website.

For instance, the Ingot is a mashup between the Volkswagen Passat and a Nissan. However, the main culprit is the Volvo V70. Also, the Nebula Turbo is built to look like an old Volvo 240D Sedan, while the Fagaloa is designed after the 66 Volvo 122 Station Wagon.

According to my humble knowledge, the name Vulcar is also a mashup of two words. The First is “vulgar” meaning tasteless, rude, obnoxious, and offensive. The second word is “car”. To be honest, they hit the nail on the head with one because it is “vile” how slow are Vulcar vehicles.

Design

The Vulcar Warrener is a classic 4-door sedan added to GTA V and GTA Online through the “I’m Not a Hipster” DLC in 2014. Despite being originally Swedish, it is treated like a JDM because it looks more JDM than Swedish.

I have a problem with this car’s design because it is like a chameleon. Every time I look at it, it changes its appearance. Let me explain.

The overall exterior design is an alloy of the Nissan Skyline GTX KGC10, also known as the legendary 2000GT Hakosuka, and the 1970s Datsun 510 Bluebird. Furthermore, from the front quarter point of view, it resembles the 1983 Toyota Corolla KE70.

And it doesn’t end there!

The front end, mainly the headlights, and grille, is a mixture of the Nissan 2000GT Hakosuka and the Peugeot 504. I even argue that the chassis is a hybrid between the Datsun 510 Bluebird and the 1972 Volvo 144. As a result, the Vulcar Warrener looks like a mini version of the G50 Toyota Century.

It’s nonsense!

Back on track, the Warrener retains the vintage sedan body style, with a little bit of sportiness. The front bumper is chrome and features two plastic blocks. It gives the car a more realistic look because carmakers started adding those plastic blocks for pedestrians’ safety.

Between those blocks, sits a massive number plate to fill the extra space. I am not sure if you noticed, but the plate is slightly tilted to the right.

Right on top of the bumper, you will notice two rectangular vents placed side by side in the center to feed more air into the engine.

The main grille is black and includes chrome rectangle surroundings, with the Vulcar emblem set in the middle. On the lower corner of the driver’s side, there is a “2600lx” badge. The headlights are two large round and yellow Halogen lights inside a chrome housing.

The hood is bulky on both sides, dips in the middle, and goes along with the top edge of the grille and headlamps. Near the windshield, there are two air vents to release the heat out of the engine bay. The hood pops up from the back and opens like the hood of a Chevrolet Corvette.

On the sides, you will notice circular side view mirrors installed on the front fenders. The wheel arches are flared out to fit thicker tires. This gives the Warrener a stanced mean and sporty look. The belt line is low and flows smoothly from front to back creating the illusion of a more aerodynamic body style.

The Warrener comes with chrome window surrounds and a body-colored B-pillar. The C-pillar is wide and glides effortlessly to the small trunk at the back. The door handles are not that great and ruin the side profile of the warrener. In addition, the front is a lot larger than the rear.

That really triggers my OCD!

The Vulcar Warrener uses the same thick tires and rims as a Karin Futo or a Bravado Youga van. The Warrener also shares its interior and dashboard dials with the classic sports, Pegassi Monroe. The same interior design can be seen in other muscle cars like the dominator, Gauntlet and Buccaneer.

Usually, the Warrener comes with a single-tone color scheme. However, at the mod shop, you will discover a secondary color. The latter is in the form of a broad stripe that runs from the tip of the hood to the rear bumper matching the Sabre Turbo.

The backside is not as exciting as the front. The taillights are one large rectangle split in two with chrome housing. In the middle, sits a big number place with two small lights on each side, also in chrome.

You guessed it! The chrome treatment continues with the rear bumper and a single exhaust exit on the driver’s side. The Vulcar emblem is placed dead center above the number plate, and the “Warrener” name is on the top right corner. Moreover, there is a “5 Speed” badge below the left tail light to indicate the car’s transmission.

Fun fact, the Warrener doesn’t have reverse lights!

Performance

The Warrener is decent when it comes to performance. For its class, at least. The acceleration is not too fast, but enough to get you up to speed. Like the Enus Super Diamond, the Vulcar Warrener produces insane torque. Unfortunately, it makes turning a lot trickier since the car has a high tendency to spin out. Nonetheless, you can do cool drifts if you can keep it under control.

The greatest feat the Warrener has is the insanely responsive handling thanks to its relatively lightweight. It is powered by the same six-cylinder engine from a rat loader and the Rusty Karin Rebel. It is rear-wheel drive and has a five-speed transmission, as the badge suggests.

It is better to add the turbo option and a spoiler to get the maximum performance because it is slow and caps out at 103 mph.

How to get a Vulcar Warrener

There are a couple of ways to get your hands on a Vulcar Warrener. It is rare, but you can find one stuck in traffic onForum Drive, Mirror Park, or Grove street. If you can’t steal one, you can purchase it from San Andreas Super Autos for 120,000 $. In reality, it will cost you more than 200,000 $ because you will modify it.

A stock Warrener can be sold for almost 70,000 $ or 200,000+ $ fully upgraded. Keep in mind you can only sell it if you bought it.

Modifications

The Warrener is an old car concerning the latest updates. Nonetheless, it still comes with a long list of custom options and upgrades.

The Vulcar Warrener HKR is a pickup variant of the standard Warrener. Let me put it this way, the standard Warrener is like the 70s Chevy Chevelle SS, and the HKR is the El Camino, or the Holden Commodore and the Holden Ute. The HkR is built after Dominic Lee’s 1974 Datsun Sunny Hakotora Pickup, which was revealed in the 2015 SEMA auto show.

The front half of the car is the same as the Standard Warrener with blacked-out headlamps housing. But the rear features a bed with black panels. The same bed can be found on the Declasse Yosemite. Unlike the standard Warrener, the HKR comes with reverse lights and no rear bumper.

What is weird about the HKR is the tailgate’s handle is on the top left corner instead of the middle.

Performance-wise, the HKR is closely matched to the standard Warrener. They share the same power and drive train. The HKR has high torque output and likes to oversteer. Plus, the acceleration is quick enough to get you going. Still, it is a great car for drifting. It is a lot lighter than the standard Warrener. Thus, the top speed is increased to 106 mph. Besides, the HKR has a lot more customization options since it was added recently.

FAQs

Question: What Cars Have the Most Customization Options?

Answer: Grand Theft Auto 5 has more cars than any other game in the series, and players love to customize them. The Dinka Jester RR and the Bravado Gauntlet Classic Custom are on top of the list, with more than 200 modification options.

Question: How do I Acquire the Nightmare Dominator?

Answer: To get the Nightmare Dominator, you must buy the standard Dominator. Then, head to the Arena Workshop and purchase the upgrade for 1,132,000 $.

Question: At What Shop can the Liberator be Modified?

Answer: Unfortunately, you cannot modify any vehicle delivered by Pegasus.

Final Thoughts

The Vulcar Warrener is an all-time classic, and any JDM lover would love to have it in his collection. It has great customization options, a badass variant, and remarkable drifting capabilities. However, beyond the looks and power slide, it is lethargic and overpriced. I would rather have a V12 Schafter instead.
